Brambles Food Hall is our very own food shop at Poplar Tree Garden Centre – and it just got bigger!
It has fast become a favourite amongst the local community and by popular demand we have extended our offering of fresh and store cupboard essentials, the increase in range and volume offers quality food at affordable prices – and don’t forget to look out for our multi-buy offers.
You can choose from essentials like fresh bread, milk and eggs; meats, sausages and pies, fresh from local farmers; naughty treats, cakes, luscious chocolates and handmade crisps; Look What We've Found gourmet ready meals; Ginger Wines from the local County Durham Ginger Bread Mam.
At Poplar Tree Garden Centre, we pride ourselves in sourcing the best local produce in the area for you – many of our suppliers are just a few miles away which means the produce is fresh and being locally produced it doesn’t have far to travel.
Farmer Mike Tindales fresh milk is produced within miles from the site using traditional methods. They also supply us with mouth-watering ice creams.
Dent's local bakers supply us with a constant source of fresh cakes, loaves and a wide range of bread, pies and pasties.
We also offer a wide selection of mouthwatering array of tasty cheeses.
We now stock our very own butchery counter offering free range fresh meat from Coates Butchers in Coxhoe, including sausage, bacon, mince beef, steak, pork fillets, gammon, award winning black pudding and Pork and Beef joints for that perfect Sunday Roast.
As if that’s not enough, a local County Durham farmer supplies us with fruit and vegetables as tasty as if they’ve just been taken out of your own garden.
We can take orders for fresh bread, meat, milk and vegetables, just ask a member of our friendly staff.

Poplar Tree Garden Centre is quite easily now one of the largest, and most entertaining Garden Centres in the North East of England. To carry on our continual improvement & expansion plans, We would like to think of Brambles Food Hall Durham as more than just another Farm Shop. With over 300m2 to cover we had to think larger than just a farm shop, especially as there are other farm shops already in Durham, Newcastle and Middlesbrough, and that is why we offer both fresh raw and cooked foods in hundreds of different categories and varieties. Given the other Farm shops in the area, we had to think of a unique selling point, and that is why we built Brambles Farm Shop & Food Hall so large, and stocked it so highly with all the food you would likely need on a local mini supermarket trip. The villagers of Shincliffe and beyond have certainly taken to it, and many now do their daily, nevermind weekly, shopping here. Our Deli and butcher are extremely well stocked for example and you would be hard to think of a single food type that we don't supply. Flying off the shelves already are the Look What We Found range of ready meals and food hampers.

It is not just locals that we are attracting to Durham's newest Farm shop, it is tourists from all over the UK, with recent visitors from Leeds having heard about us, and one couple from Northampton were also hugely impressed with what they found. "Its great to have a Farm shop combined with a food hall for a change", said Margaret from Leeds. "Usually you get one or the other, but to have this along with a large garden centre and beautiful coffee shop, it was easy for us to spend 4 to 5 enjoyable hours here without even noticing.
