This venture was long anticipated by Poplar Tree Garden Centre, the surrounding community and thousands of eager customers.
Brambles Coffee Shop is uniquely positioned in Shincliffe Village within a mile of Durham City at Poplar Tree Garden Centre. It lies upon the banks of the beautiful River Wear where you can enjoy exclusive relaxing walks. It is the perfect place to spend a lunchtime, afternoon, or even a full day unwinding away from the busy life of the city but within a convenient location.
Located in stunning grounds, Brambles Coffee Shop itself holds up to 100 people inside and a further 60 in our designated outdoor seating area. Here you can enjoy the stunning views of the open countryside and wind down in the peace and tranquillity of the beautiful surroundings whilst eating your lunch, enjoying a snack or a quick tea or coffee.
Our menu includes a wide selection of teas, coffees, hot and cold sandwiches, scones, cakes, Panini’s, jacket potatoes, soups, salads, toasties, pasties, pies and much, much more. All our items are very reasonably priced and our Brambles Club Sandwich, along with the Fresh Scones, clotted cream and jam has become firm favourites with many of the thousands of visitors that have passed through our doors.

Work will commence in February 2009 on the construction of a large Farm Shop and Brambles coffee shop extension. Here you will be able to buy fresh local produce from around our great region, the North East of England. We will soon be offering a wide and unique selection of fresh free range eggs, beef, pork, lamb, chicken and ham, fresh vegetables, potatoes, cheeses, bacon, sausages, fruit, cakes, milk, jams, preserves and a whole lot more...all from our wonderful local farms.
