Where to position your bird feeder

Positioning bird feeders in the ideal place will obviously depend on the size and nature of your garden. In addition, you will of course want bird feeders in place where they can be seen and enjoyed from a window in your house. As a general guide though here's our thoughts on bird feeder positioning:

Avoid having bird feeders and bird tables too close to shrubs and hedges where cats can hide
Bird feeders can be hung from trees or held in place by a special pole
The exact position of bird feeders and your bird table should ideally be changed every few weeks (see 'Importance of keeping feeders and feeding areas clean')
Bird feeders should be at least 1.2metres off the ground (to the base of the feeder) - this helping to protect feeding birds from preying cats
